About the Environmental Modelling Workshop

The Environmental modelling workshop is a multi-media (air, water, land and biodiversity), multi-stakeholder event that will have participation from different organizations including academia, consulting, industry, as well as environmental modellers from across the province. The workshop will provide participants with the opportunity to brainstorm on current modelling practices and needs within the province of Alberta. Additionally, participants will be charged with finding ways of integrating modelling efforts across the different media that will enhance the implementation of a Cumulative Effects Management System (CEMS) in the province.

Opportunities for networking and open discussions will present themselves during break-out sessions and coffee breaks for participants to continue conversations on the focus areas of the workshop.

It is the hope of the Organizers of this workshop that successful hosting of the workshop will promote the needed scientific and technical research for the continuous improvement of environmental modelling in Alberta. The opportunities for collaboration and information exchange that will occur during the workshop between model developers and users will also promote the integration of monitoring and energy development scenarios with environmental modelling.
