| Edwin Welles began his career at the National Weather Service in 1994 at the Hydrologic Research Lab. From then until 2005 he supported the NWS River Forecast Center operations with scientific and software advice with a particular focus on the ensemble forecasts. During that time he earned his PhD from the University of Arizona writing his dissertation on the verification of NWS river forecasts. In 2005 he expanded his scope when he took over management of the software development for the NWS Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System (AWIPS) and NEXRAD. Dr. Welles joined Deltares in 2009 as the Executive Director of the US office where he continues to work developing and implementing operational systems for government agencies, power authorities and private companies. | |
