Summary of June 2005 flood estimates

River assessments completed after the heavy precipitation in June 2005 indicate that flooding in several locations reached levels that only have a 1% chance of occurring in any year. Flooding of this magnitude occurred at:

North Saskatchewan River Basin:

• Clearwater River, near Dovercourt
• North Saskatchewan River, near Rocky Mountain House
• Prairie Creek, near Rocky Mountain House

Red Deer River Basin:

• Bearberry Creak, near Sundre
• James River, near Sundre
• Little Red Deer River, near the mouth
• Raven River, near Raven
• Red Deer River, below Burnt Timber Creek

Bow River Basin:

• Bow River, below the Carseland Dam
• Bow River, near the mouth
• Pekisko Creek, near Longview
• Stimson Creek, near Pekisko
• Threepoint Creek, near Millarville

Oldman River Basin:

• Willow Creek near Claresholm
• Prairie Blood Coulee near Lethbridge
