Reservoir Storage Conditions

As of January 1, 2006, water storage in the major irrigation reservoirs in the Oldman River basin is above normal. Water storage in the basin is similar to or slightly greater than at this time last year.

Water storage as of January 1, 2006 in the major hydroelectric and irrigation reservoirs of the Bow River basin is above normal, except at Barrier and Spray lakes reservoirs where it is normal. Water storage is generally similar to or slightly greater than at this time last year.

Water storage in the major reservoir of the Red Deer River basin is above normal. Water storage in the Dickson Reservoir is slightly greater than at last time last year.

Storage volumes in the major hydroelectric reservoirs in the North Saskatchewan River basin are above normal. Water storage is slightly higher than at this time last year.

January 1, 2006 reservoir data is available in Table 1. Much of the data is not current to January 1, 2006 as some gauges are routinely shut down for the winter.
