Young Environmental Leaders of Alberta

The Young Environmental Leaders of Alberta (formerly known as the Youth Environmental Stewardship committee) was officially formed September 2009. This committee underwent transformative changes to refocus and redevelop their vision and mission statement. The committee is comprised of dedicated youth members from the ages of 16 – 30 years old, who have an interest in the environment, conservation and stewardship. The Young Environmental Leaders of Alberta (YELA) youth committee is supported by Alberta Environment and Alberta Tourism, Parks and Recreation (Parks Division).

Young Environmental Leaders of Alberta Mission Statement:

"We, the committee exist to inspire Albertans, specifically youth to care for the environment and to take action in preserving and protecting the environment.  We believe in making genuine connections to empower youth.  We believe that all youth bring valuable perspectives, which lead to innovation and positive changes.  This committee will educate and engage Albertans by planning and leading environmental initiatives."
