The United Nations General Assembly declared 2010 to be the International Year of Biodiversity (IYB), to help raise awareness of the importance of biodiversity all over the world. Part of Environment Canada’s celebration of IYB is the national Nature Matters! Contest.
The 2nd Annual Speak Out Conference will be in Edmonton May 14-16, 2010. The Speak Out Conference will bring together 200 students, aged 14 to 19, and 100 teachers from across the province, to discuss their perspectives and ideas on how to improve education. The Young Environmental Stewards (YES) Grant Program was created to help Alberta's young environmental leaders turn their dreams for a cleaner, healthier future into a reality. YES grants provide up to $5,000 to a single project undertaken by an individual or group of young people who are passionate about making Alberta a better place.
