Air Monitoring Directive

The Air Monitoring Directive (AMD 1989) and its amendments (AMD 2006) represent Part I of the Monitoring and Reporting Directive series, which specifies environmental monitoring and reporting requirements and guidelines in Alberta.
 
A multi-stakeholder group of Alberta Environment staff, airshed managers and industry representatives provides input and editorial review.
 
Division I sets out a quality system for the framework for planning, implementing, documenting, and assessing the environmental monitoring and data operations and for carrying out required quality assurance and quality control.
 
General requirements, including Continuous Emission Monitoring System Reporting, can also be found in Division I which is available online or as a printable document (PDF).
 
Division II of the AMD covers minimum performance specifications, specific quality assurance requirements for ambient air monitoring equipment and acceptable ambient air monitoring methods.
