Management of acid deposition
Acid deposition results when acid forming pollutants are deposited on the earth's surface(primarily sulphur dioxide and oxides of nitrogen.) Personal and industrial activities can lead to emission these compounds.
In Alberta, a management framework has been developed, based on four levels: pre-industrial (or background); current ; target load and critical load. Each level has a specific corresponding management practice.
For more on this management framework, see Alberta Acid Deposition Management Framework.
