Emissions management and Alberta's electricity sector
In 2006, Alberta Environment adopted the recommendations of An Emissions Management Framework for the Alberta Electricity Sector Report to Stakeholders from the Clean Air Strategic Alliance.
This framework is aimed at continuous improvement of air emissions standards for electricity generation.

Proposed reductions in the framework are:
- Mercury: 50 per cent (end of 2009)
- Sulphur dioxide: 46 per cent (by 2025)
- Nitrogen dioxide: 32 per cent (by 2025)
- Particulate matter: 51 per cent (by 2025)
For more on the framework see CASA Electricity.
For more on its implementation, see Managing air emissions in the electricity sector.
