Precipitation quality monitoring stations

Alberta Environment collects precipitation (rain and snow) samples on a weekly basis at stations across the province.

Chemical analysis is done on the precipitation, to obtain measures of pH and other ions.

The effective acidity and potential acid input of the precipitation is also calculated.

The monitoring stations are located in Fort Vermilion, Fort Chipewyan, Fort McMurray, Beaverlodge, Cold Lake, Red Deer, Calgary Northwest, Kananaskis and Suffield.
